Project Update: Supporting Young Men with recently granted status.
Since November 2023, London Councils have seen a substantial increase in the number of newly granted refugees being evicted from Home Office accommodation and experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. Despite this growing challenge there is a significant gap in understanding the needs of this group and how they might be better supported via alternate pathways.
As part of an ESRC funded impact grant, we are working in partnership with London School of Economics, LB Newham Council and NEWway, a rough sleeping service in Newham, to explore these questions and develop ideas for change in supporting these young men.
We are using deep listening and participatory approaches, working with the young men to better understand their lived experiences of support, information and how each could be better supported going forward.
